Piet Mondrian 2

Piet Mondrian

3-dimensional Piet Initials

Students made 3D initials this past week. Once they get their final layer of newspaper (glue and water mix) on and it dries, they will paint a Piet Mondrian style design on them. The hard part was cutting out their initials on cardboard so we played around with card stock which started drooping when we put the wet newspaper on, we also tried chip board which was a little easier to cut then card board and worked quite well when putting on the newspaper. I tried letting the 5th grade use xacto knives but was too nervous about that so just made them use scissors.

As an extra project, Kindergarten got to play with clay-doe. I had them spell out their names with it and they did awesome!

Primary Color Abstract Circles

4th graders worked on making circles using recycled containers, tracing with a black marker, and then painting in with the Primary colors.
