The Art Room

My "What to Do Next" Jar
Little strips of paper with drawing ideas written on them. For example, "Pretend you are a pilot, where have you flown?"

I have my expectations and consequences posted everywhere!

I LOVE Dick Blick Watercolors!

My monthly Helpers chart. I choose two or three helpers for each month depending on student behavior.  Every student should have the opportunity to be  a helper by the end of the school year.

Luckily, I have a Smart Board which comes in very handy at times.

I love my artist posters. When the students line up they can read about the different artists.

I am teaching in an ordinary classroom so storage space is limited and I do not have a sink at this school. That is definitely a setback with painting projects, but we make do.

I cut out numbers from construction paper and hung them from paper clips and string above the tables  so that students could find their table easily. I did have fancy numbers cut out and taped to the tables themselves but the students eventually peel it off.

I borrowed this idea from a website that I cannot recall but loved the reference to "Finding Nemo" which is one of my favorite movies.

My make-shift stop light informs students of my expectations concerning talking. The red one says "No Talking," the yellow one says "Whisper Voices," and the green one says "Raise Hand to Speak."

I use these to hold paint, pastels of a certain color, water, etc.

These come in really handy for multiple uses like holding painting supplies, marbling, etc.
